The spread of multinational companies and the resulting increase of globalization produce positive effects to everyone. Do you agree or disagree?
Globalization（全球化） has enabled big companies to set up outlets, factories （工程）and management facilities in separate countries, resulting in the term ‘multinational companies’. Examples include Lenovo, Huawei and Datang Telecom. Some believe these phenomena （现象）produce positive effects to everyone, but I disagree.
First and foremost, the rise of multinational corporations allows consumers from all over the world to have access to similar products（相同产品）. Services are also believed to be faster, cheaper and of higher quality, due to the strategies that are used in creating a global production chain（全球生产链）. However, the issue of homogeneity （同化）also arises, causing a lack of diversity （不同性）in popular products and offering the customers with less buying choices.
Secondly, districts or countries such as Bangladesh, India and Pakistan are very vulnerable （无助的）to exploitation by multinational companies. Workers in poverty are employed to work at local factories employed by overseas companies, because the salary （工资）they demand is lower than those in more developed countries（发达国家）. Multinational companies are therefore notorious for using this tactic to lower their production costs and gain more profit. The ill treatment of labourers is an extremely negative aspect of globalization, especially when it enables companies to do so at a more extensive scale.
Thirdly, multinational companies can increase the productivity （生产力）of their branches through division of labour. This speeds up the manufacturing process and causes millions of goods to be made every day. The transport required to ship commodities （产品） and finished wares also causes a high consumption of fuel and electricity. Multinational companies and globalization have accelerated（加速） the speed of which Earth’s natural resources（天然资源） are being used up, which will negatively impact the human population. Problems such as climate change（气候变化） and pollution have worsened greatly since the spread of multinational companies.
In conclusion, although on the surface, multinational companies can seem very promising, there is a dark side lurking beneath. In the long term, their highly utilized and effective method of production will harm rather than benefit everyone. Globalization will only intensify the scale of damage they can do, if the companies are not legally and morally regulated.
