Some people believe that educational qualifications will always bring success in life. Other people say that educational qualifications do not necessarily bring success. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
For some, educational qualifications （学历） are paramount to achieving success in life. Other people argue that these achievements do not necessarily bring success. This essay will discuss both views and venture my own opinion.
In an increasingly competitive job market（竞争激烈的市场）, candidates（候选人）with university qualifications （大学学历）are hired more and are more likely to have a higher income. They are also offered better work perks（更好的工作津贴） and benefits. Having qualifications in their chosen field also means they will make their way up the career ladder faster and have access to more opportunities （更多机会）. Furthermore, employers recognise that a person who has chosen to study longer is more likely to apply themselves. Conversely（反过来）however, in a saturated job market （饱和的市场）, some may find they are in fact over-qualified （资格过高） for jobs. They may be unable to find work in their chosen field, and instead have to work in a completely different sector. Some employers prefer to hire those with work experience（工作经验）, as they have “real-life” experience.
In my opinion, having qualifications in education is more likely to guarantee success（保证成功）. Though there may be some disadvantages （一些弊端）, having a higher education tends to open people to more career opportunities. Those without qualifications tend to be overlooked, as employers prefer to look for employees with specific and developed skills and capabilities （专业技能和能力）. Furthermore, a higher paid career （高薪职业）often creates success in other parts of life, as workers are able to purchase their own homes, have access to better health care and can save for retirement（养老储蓄）. Having qualifications also helps a person to move to other career paths, as it shows they have focus and stamina（耐力）.
For the majority of people, educational qualifications are the best path to achieving success （学历是通向成功的最好的途径）. This applies not only in their career, but also for income, financial stability, health and long-term plans（长期计划）.
I started with brainstorming and listing the reasons why qualifications are more likely to grant success, and then the same for reasons for why they may not. After making a list I also consulted websites and journal articles, looking for further points to discuss. I used newspaper articles from The Guardian, The New Yorker and the BBC, and journal articles from educational sites. I also consulted employment and university websites.
